Students Translate MBCN’s Patient Brochures to Bridge the Language Gap

During the fall of 2015, students in Professor Abad's Spanish for Medical Professions (SPAN 321 and SPAN 322) classes collaborated with MBCN -the Metastatic Breast Cancer Network-, a national non- profit patient advocacy group, to better serve the Spanish speaking patients and the people closest to them. Working as a team with the whole class, the students produced a Spanish version of three informative brochures addressed to the newly diagnosed patient. The brochures are being printed by MBCN and will be shared with associations, health care providers and the Spanish speaking community.
