Application Process

Follow these steps to apply for the Certificate of Language and Intercultural Communication

  1. Review the requirements for the Certificate.
  2. Send an email expressing intent. Students interested in pursuing the Certificate in Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, or Russian should contact Dr. Meng Yeh at myeh@rice.edu. Those interested in the Certificate in French, German, Italian, Portuguese, or Spanish should contact Dr. Luziris Pineda Turi at lpturi@rice.edu.

  3.     The email should include:

    • Your name, year of study, and intended graduation date.
    • The language(s) you are applying for.
    • A 500-word statement of your academic objective.
    • An unofficial transcript showing your progress so far in the chosen language(s), including the results of the Language Placement Test, if applicable.
     
  4. Meet with the Certificate advisor to plan a course of study that will lead to the Certificate.
  5. After completing the coursework and study abroad experience, contact the Certificate advisor to arrange for testing.
