CLIC organizes a series of professional development meetings. Here are brief descriptions of some recent meetings:
SPRING 2016
A discussion of what errors indicate in terms of language development and learning. How can evidence about the state of the learner’s interlanguage be assessed and used in instruction?
FALL 2015
Analysis of some of the practices represented by first and fourth semester students of Italian as they interacted in pairs/small groups and with their teachers during multipart oral exams.
A look at noticing as a cognitive phenomenon and how it may emerge in interaction with a focus on an area that brings together noticing and feedback in interaction: recasts.
A discussion of aspects of L2 vocabulary learning that have been explored empirically: What is vocabulary learning?, What does it mean to know a word?, How should vocabulary be taught in the classroom, at all levels of proficiency?
